The Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society (NKDF) Board of Directors is made up of volunteers from across the investment area.
A point-based system is used to evaluate applicants and create an eligibility list. The eligibility list is sent to the Board Resourcing and Development Office and the Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, who makes the final decisions and appoints Directors to our Board.
Points will be based on how well the applicants meet the following criteria:
1) Resident in the Kitamaat Village, Nechako, Burns Lake and Southside areas, including rural and First Nations communities.
2) Proven skills and experience in the following areas.
Once appointed, Board members are required to attend a minimum of four meetings held in communities across the investment area, from Kitamaat Village to Vanderhoof. The Board of Directors is responsible to make funding decisions for projects and to direct the policies and operations of the Society.

The Government of B.C. and Alcan Inc. each contributed $7.5 million to establish the Northern Development Fund in 1999. The investment income generated from this fund supports the NKDF grants program. Each partner has one representative serving on the board of directors. The NKDF is part of the portfolio of the Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training.
