Title: NKDF Society Approves Two New Grants in the Nechako Area
The Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society is pleased to announce approval of funding for community economic development projects in Vanderhoof and the Southside. At its March 27th Board meeting, the Board approved grants totaling approximately $240,000 for projects designed to improve economic opportunity for the participating communities.
Society activities and programs are supported through the Northern Development Fund, jointly established by the government of British Columbia and Alcan. The investment area for the NKDF includes all communities affected by Alcan’s Kitimat-Kemano hydro-electric project.
Dave Merz, Chair of the Society, is happy to announce that the business plan for the new fiscal year (starting April 1, 2002) includes another $1 million for new grants and $330,000 for loans.
